Hall of Fame trainer Jonathan Sheppard shows no signs of slowing down.
On Thursday, Sheppard’s Divine Fortune won the A.P. Smithwick Memorial Steeplechase at Saratoga Race Course. For Sheppard, it was his third consecutive Smithwick victory and his sixth win in the race overall.
But what was particularly eventful about the win for Sheppard was that it gave him at least one victory at the Spa for a 44th consecutive year.
Sheppard’s day at Saratoga got even better when he won the other steeplechase race on the card, as Royal Rossi captured a $53,000 allowance race.
